This, too

No, you call ME. (I can't afford phone credit.)

Why am I not back in the northwest of England as I had expected by now to be?

The Manchester Evening News: "A LOTTERY scratchcard has been withdrawn from sale by Camelot - because players couldn't understand it."

Okay, must be like these weird Aussie lottery rules, I assume.

"To qualify for a prize, users had to scratch away a window to reveal a temperature lower than the figure displayed on each card. As the game had a winter theme, the temperature was usually below freezing.

"But the concept of comparing negative numbers proved too difficult for some Camelot received dozens of complaints on the first day from players who could not understand how, for example, -5 is higher than -6."

...oh.

And I'm not encouraged by the MEN's mysteriously spartan application of punctuation in that last paragraph, either.

It's 2007, and the UK has a nearly two trillion (US) dollar economy, and yet the general public is too stupid to be able to gamble on scratchcards.

Over here in Aus, meanwhile, I've moved into a new flat in St.Kilda and am feeling especially gentile as my brother seems to be about the only other non-Jewish person in the neighbourhood. I kinda feel weird buying so much bacon.

Flat's okay, anyway. Got a balcony. Always wanted a balcony. It'd probably be better with furniture. I'm calling it Korean style, at the moment, since all of my sitting is done on the floor. So too my sleeping and eating.

Now the Stone Roses are playing over the internet cafe's speakers, and this day is becoming way too Manc. Four references by four PM, and I'm starting to crave a pint of Boddies.

Oh, I'm being called to the pub to farewell a Scot. Time to see how many free drinks I can get out of Generousbargirl. Let's hope it's, "some".
