This, too

Maybe next time I'll just rant about something...

Can't seem to remember how to compose a journal update.

Surprised that I can remember anything after this unexpectedly drunken weekend.

The birthday came and went with relatively little notice since I neglected to inform many people in advance. I received a package from home, though. It contained a new T-shirt featuring a grumpy-looking Dogtanian. Super. Needless to say, it really could do with a wash after the better part of a week's continued wearing.

Brother fecked off after two drinks, wanting to meet Vietnamesegirl, which was, in my opinion, fair enough. I ended up in Fitzroy, drinking with the guy from the fish 'n' chip shop and half the staff from the Gunn, which was a little odd.

Fairly slow week, I committed little of it to memory.

Friday, I think, saw the brother and I idling towards the conclusion that, no, we really can't go to the Vineyard again, and, to be honest, I probably shouldn't just spend the money I got on my birthday, because it isn't as much as it sounds like in dollars and it wouldn't survive a night of serious drinking.

Then Clairegirl (heh) informed us of a Baron Samadhi (which Firefox thinks ought to be spelled, "Samarkand" ooh, Tamerlaney!) gig across town. 'twas good, but my money didn't survive it.

Did not sleep a great deal that night. Or, you know, at all. Walked back from North Carlton, which, in hindsight, interesting idea. For a moment I thought that I'd spent the night on Pigeon Street, until I regained the ability to read without swapping vowels for consonants.

Saturday... took me until quarter past two in the afternoon to get home. Where upon I left again, for the Galleon, because I'd not eaten in the past eighteen hours. Why you'd want to know that I'm not sure, I'm just emphasising the fact that I probably shouldn't have survived the weekend.

Made it pretty much to midnight without making any more bad decisions, then received some texts and calls that prompted another silly move in the walking-far-and-drinking department. Trying to find a nondescript house on some residential side-road on the other side of Prahran at half midnight with directions provided by someone wasted enough to refer to me with terms like, 'hottie' isn't the easiest thing I've ever done after a ridiculously late night out and one small meal all day.

Still, few arty types and stagey sorts, over-priced ale, back home by eight in the morning after once again walking the wrong way.

So, uh, it was then Sunday? I'm really having trouble figuring all this out. Was planning to wander over to Fitzroy and just, I dunno, potter about and maybe use the Black Cat as a base in which to slouch in the event of bodily collapse, which I deemed quite likely, but then the trams weren't running so, pff, not walking that again, twice. Brother's plans were canceled and he was pretty keen for drinks, since he'd not gone to Prahran with me the previous night. So we decided it might make sense to go to some of the local establishments that he wasn't familiar with, and a few that I'd avoided, too. It's amazing how many places you can get to without paying full price for a drink in St.Kilda. Also really puzzling, with that in mind, that we had three each in the most expensive place we found... and in which we mostly complained about the smoke.

So I survived a lot of drinking and a lot of walking, without eating or sleeping much, and I may have made a friend or two, but I spent more money than was reasonable, and I forgot half the people I met.

...Today was a write-off.
